A children’s book about climate change.

The Little Blue Planet is beautiful story written by CD Anais LaRocca & Eve Grissinger. I was lucky to lead the design and illustration overseeing the book development next to Anais from concepting, thumb nailing, layout and bringing the story to life up until shipping for print. I work side by side with amazingly talented Syd Fini into collaborating on the illustrations. The Little Blue Planet, has a verified net-zero carbon footprint and uses soy-based inks on 100% Post Consumer Waste (PWC) recycled paper. The book is also available on Amazon.

We were looking to create and search for an illustration style that would speak classic children’s book that allowed us to dive into the tactile feel of hand drawn charcoal treatment. Anais LaRocca was keen on adding warmth to the drawings via a very gestural human trace. We tried to avoid the digital feel, and embraced the small irregular wonders that you get when drawing on paper.
